Tonearm Geometry Papers

For those interested in following up the theory, there are early papers from Gilson, Baerwald, Stevenson, Kogen, Alexandrovitch, and others, which might still be found on the internet. Also a search for tonearm geometry will usually find magazine articles and other papers from manufacturers.

However, the definitive paper on the history and analysis of tonearm geometry,  by Graeme Dennes, referencing Percy Wilson and Bela Harsanyi (the pioneers) and Erik Lofgren (whose paper was first of the rest, in 1938), is available here from Vinyl Engine

To download it, you have to register and log in there - well worth doing, as in addition to the forum, there is a mountain of data on tonearms, turntables, and cartridges, as well as many useful tools and calculators.
